The Mariah project utilizes augmented reality to critically examine the history of social and cultural injustice embedded within renowned institutions. It offers a narrative that exposes the often overlooked stories of those who suffered and perished in the pursuit of legacy and remembrance funded by philanthropy. Mariah functions both as a memorializer and as a form of protest, shedding light on the intersections of art, history, and social inequity.

This project is named in memory of Mariah Lotti, who sadly passed away from an overdose on July 11, 2011, at the age of nineteen.

The augmented reality experience is the result of a collaborative effort by artists Heather Snyder Quinn and Adam DelMarcelle, aiming to challenge viewers to reconsider historical narratives often sanitized or forgotten within cultural monuments.
